The audition will consist of:
Online Registration
Zoom/In-person Informal Meet & Greet Interview
2 Day In-person live audition.
Full Audition Timeline:
Sunday, March 5th - Online registration Opens
Saturday, March 25th - Online registration Closes
Sunday, March 26th - Tryout materials released to registered participants
March 27th- Optional Informational Zoom Meeting
March 27th-April 8th- Zoom/In person Informal Interviews
Saturday April 8th- Alternative Audition Day (This day is only for those who absolutely cannot make the April 15th and 16th audition weekend. )
Alternative audition plan for the Pitt State Dance Team due to some date conflicts. A fast-paced intensive where you'll go through the entire audition process in just one day!
At the end of the session, we'll record your materials for judging. Our judges will evaluate the video the following weekend at our traditional audition.
Saturday April 15th and Sunday April 16th- In-person audition.
This material will be taught live and auditions will be judged live.
There will be a $25 Fee for in person auditions.

“What are your requirements?”
We do not have mandatory requirements however here is a list of suggested skills to prepare for tryouts:
· Turns: triple pirouette, turns in second, leg hold turns.
· A variety of leaps and jumps.
· Inversions: Aerial, handsprings, Kip-ups
· Flexibility and a high range of mobility
· Energized rallying and spiriting
· Engaging performance presence
“How many people will make the team?”
For the 2023-2024 season we are looking between 13 and 16 Student Athletes.
“Who determines the team?”
The team is determined by audition scoring. Those scores are determined by a judging panel consisting of Crimson & Gold Alumni. The alumni chosen to judge may not have danced with anyone who is trying out for the team.
“Do you compete”
Yes, the Crimson & Gold Dance team competes at UDA College Nationals in Orlando Florida. Typically we compete in Pom and Jazz however each year will determine what we choose to do.
“Do returners have to try out?”
Yes, everyone has to try out each season.
“Are there any height and weight requirements?”
We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements.
“What should I wear to auditions?”
You should wear:
2-piece attire: Top: Dance/Athletic Bra Top (No Tank Tops) Bottom: Spandex Shorts
Dance shoes: jazz, pirouettes, sneakers/athletic shoes, etc.
“How should I wear my make-up?”
Make-up should complement your natural beauty.
“How should I wear my hair?”
In a current hairstyle that compliments your features. Make sure your hair does not hide your face.
“If I am not selected as a Crimson & Gold team member will I receive my judges’ scores and comments?”
No. The judges’ sheets are not kept on file and comments about your audition will not available.
“May I try out if I have a tattoo?”
We do not have a tattoo policy.
“What if I cannot make it to the in-person audition date due to a scheduling conflict?”
This will be addressed by the head coach as a case by case.
