· Saturday, March 27th- Tryout materials released to registered participants
· Monday, March 29th 7:00pm- Optional Coaches Q&A Session via zoom.
· March 29th-April 9th- Zoom Interviews
· Friday, April 9th 11:59pm- Audition videos submission due.
· Friday, April 10th- Video Judging Begins
· Sunday, April 18th- In Person. This material will be taught live and auditions will be judged live. There will be a $20 Fee for in person auditions.
· Sunday, April 18th- Team Announced via Social Media
· Sunday, April 18th 5pm- Team Meeting
Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions we are not planning on hosting a tryout prep clinic.
FAQ:
“What are your requirements?”
We do not have mandatory requirements however here is a list of suggested skills to prepare for tryouts:
· Turns: triple pirouette, turns in second, leg hold turns.
· A variety of leaps and jumps.
· Inversions: Aerial, handsprings, Kip-ups
· Flexibility and a high range of mobility
· Energized rallying and spiriting
· Engaging performance presence
“How many people will make the team?”
For the 2021-2022 season our maximum number will be 13. However, we may take less depending on the natural break in judges scoring.
“Who determines the team?”
The team is determined by audition scoring. Those scores are determined by a judging panel consisting of Crimson & Gold Alumni. The alumni chosen to judge may not have danced with anyone who is trying out for the team.
“Do you compete”
In normal circumstances yes, however do to COVID restrictions the 2020-2021 team will not compete. 2019/2020 The Crimson & Gold Dance team competed at UDA College Nationals in Orlando Florida.
“Do returners have to try out?”
Yes, everyone has to try out each season.
“Are there any height and weight requirements?”
We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements.
“What should I wear to auditions?”
You should wear:
2-piece attire: Top: Dance/Athletic Bra Top (No Tank Tops) Bottom: Spandex Shorts
Dance shoes: jazz, pirouettes, sneakers/athletic shoes, etc…)
“How should I wear my make-up?”
Make-up should complement your natural beauty.
“How should I wear my hair?”
In a current hairstyle that compliments your features. Make sure your hair does not hide your face.
“If I am not selected as a Crimson & Gold team member will I receive my judges’ scores and comments?”
No. The judges’ sheets are not kept on file and comments about your audition will not available.
“May I try out if I have a tattoo?”
We do not have a tattoo policy.
